There’s nothing more frustrating than waiting for your clothes to dry.

Between trying to get everything in your house dried and making sure you’re not racking up your energy bills during the cost of living crisis, it can be a daunting task.

However, one TikTok user says that she uses a washing machine trick to cut down her drying time and it won’t cost you a fortune.

TikToker @budgetingmum explained that she you don’t need a tumble dryer to do this.

She captioned her video: “How to save money on your laundry costs?”

The content creator wrote: “Make sure you’re running your clothes on an extra spin cycle when they’ve finished washing to remove as much water from them as possible before either attempting to dry them in the house or putting them in the washing machine”.

She added: “How to dry clothes quicker in the winter without costing you a fortune…

“If you run the washing on an extra spin cycle after the cycle has finished, this will remove even more water from the clothes and make drying clothes indoors quicker or reduce the time needed in the tumble dryer”.

Her video received over 880k views with people flocking to the comments to confirm that his trick works.

One person said: “Done this for years”.

A second viewer wrote: “I do this all year”.

A third commenter shared: “Been doing this for years thought it was just me. Not woollens though”.

Others did warn that you need to be mindful of which items you are putting in for the extra spin cycle.

Extra spin cycles typically take less than 12 minutes, depending on the load, which means the shortened wash cycle is going at a high speed to help lessen the drying time.

However, this puts certain fabrics in danger of being damaged such as delicate items like silks, lingerie, woollens, and pieces with embellishments.
