Diehard Game of Thrones fans have been delighted to discover the Iron Throne has set up at Sydney Town Hall, ahead of the prequel’s premiere on Monday.
One of the defining questions leading up to the Game of Thrones finale was who would end up on the Iron Throne?
Just days ahead of the global premiere of HBO’s prequel House of the Dragon, which airs at 11am on Binge and Foxtel* on August 22, a replica of the famed seat from the new series has emerged at Sydney Town Hall for diehard fans to check out.
Sitting at 2.8 metres tall and weighing 226kg, the throne is significantly more commanding than the one we saw in Thrones – with HotD set 200 years prior.
It was – per George R.R. Martin’s books – originally built from the blades of Aegon Targaryen’s enemies before they were moulded together with dragon fire.
The Iron Throne will be at Sydney Town Hall until 5pm Friday August 19, before embarking on an east coast tour.

It’ll next head to The University of Sydney in front of the Great Hall from August 31 until September 1, and will vacate to Victoria for the weekend of September 10 and 11, where it’ll position itself at Westfield Southland Victoria.
But for those who can’t make it to snap a photo, the Iron Throne will be visible in all its glory when HotD premieres on Monday.
